I am afraid that I am writing too many addenda.

Should one really write an addendum for every issue that could be addressed in an addendum?

Which ones are you writing and what for

How many are you writing? You obviously need an addendum if the school requires one (e.g. schools typically require you to write a statement if you answered in the affirmative to C+F questions). Beyond that there are extremely limited scenarios in which an addendum is a good idea.

I was thinking LSAT increase (over 10 points), one on my decision to do a joint program, and then I was thinking of doing 1. gap in education, 2. withdraws on my record

Just the first two?

I'm sorry to TTT this, but anyone?

• LSAT increase - only if the school requires it
• Decision to do a joint program - no
• Gap in education - if the school requires it
• Withdraws on your record - absolutely not, unless you withdrew a whole semester (which would likely be incorporated with gap in education?)

If possible, I wouldn't go over two.

My rule of thumb was to do an addendum if 1) the school asked for it in the application, or 2) if the application was poorly written and I had to do one in order to answer accurately and honestly.

Beyond that, only do addenda if they make you look good.

For the record, I had like 5 or 6 Ws and they didn't affect my cycle in the slightest.

Sometimes less is more.

I agree with this; it's the reason I created the thread. I HAVE to do one on my LSAT, but I'm not sure if I should do another (explaining a gap/underperforming one semester).

Personally, I would do the minimum you think is required and just let everything else speak for itself, but reasonable minds can differ on this I suppose. I would only write one about one semester of subpar grades if there is a legit reason for the underperformance that you can articulate (e.g. some kind of tragedy, illness, etc.).

ETA: I basically agree with Dany's first post above.

The more you write the more examples they have to determine if you can make a decent written argument. That could be good or bad.
