Top Law Schools

Some advice needed:

I took the LSAT in October and got a 170, then again in December and got a 177.

I've already sent addendums to schools where I felt that the initial 170 would not be sufficient (HYS, Columbia)
My Question: do I need to send them to Penn, Mich, Berkeley where the 170 alone, or the average of a 173/174 might be a sufficient score to get me admitted?

Is there some compelling reason for your lower initial score, or did you just (a) have gameday nerves or (b) not study enough? If it's anything like (a) and (b), don't write an addendum.

No i definitely studied enough - i didn't study at all between the 2 tests. I was consistently pt-ing 175-178 so I knew the 170 was not my best which is why I re-took.

I really don't know what happened in October. I did have a migraine headache that day and had to run to the bathroom to throw up at one point (although that turned out to have been in the experimental section).
I suffer from chronic migraines and am used to dealing with them and generally can push through them on tests and other important things.

Well, you could definitely write an addendum explaining your migraines and how they affected you the first time.

However, a 170 is by no means a bad score, and the 177 is on your record, so I don't know if I'd really recommend writing an addendum for a score that isn't going to be viewed that closely and is pretty good even if it is.

You're going from 97 to 99 percentile, it's not like you're going from 68 to 97 percentile. It needs less explaining.
