I was studying for the LSAT all summer and scoring pretty well, then football started and my scores declines significantly. My December LSAT was much lower than where I had been scoring over the summer. Should I write an addendum?

You would say, "I scored poorly because of football?" I'm not sure how helpful that would be.

That is not a legitimate excuse and will sound whiny. Don't write it. (and I say that as a former DI athlete)

That's what I was thinking, but what if the school explicitly asks, "If you do not think that your academic record or standardized test scores accurately reflect your ability to succeed in law school, please tell us why."

Plenty of people have the excuse that they had other things going on, so they didn't study hard enough. But the excuse actually makes you look worse than the LSAT score alone would.

But if you're not happy with your score now, you could always retake next year when you're not playing football.
