Made a dumb mistake. What should I do???

Post by noleknight16 » Fri Jan 06, 2012 1:00 am

I have two personal statements, long (~1000 words) and short (~500 words). I transmitted an application today to a school that explicitly said personal statements should be 500 words but I forgot about that and submitted the long one.

What should I do? I assume call, but I don't know how to word it without sounding like an idiot for forgetting about the requirement. They haven't even e-mailed me yet to say they have my application, but the application is transmitted so I can't make any changes to it.

E-mail the schools with correct PS. This topic has been covered elsewhere. I think people have even give sample e-mails of it. It is a very common mistake.

Ok, whew!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Thanks!

Hi, I am currently in a similar situation..

I sent a personal statement draft (cross-referenced and there was ONE missing 's' in a name) instead of the final polished PS to one of my reach schools.

Can i directly e-mail the admissions office to replace the PS?
or will this be highly frowned upon?

hitting my head right now :/

EDIT: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... t#p4958288

similar fate... I guess I'll bite the bullet and hope for the best :x

To make you feel better, I by accident sent a PS with "n" instead of "in" and I was still accepted! I wouldn't worry too much
