Top Law Schools

I was wondering if transferring after my sophomore year of undergrad would negatively impact my admissions to law schools. Currently I attend a small, private Christian college in Pennsylvania and I have a 3.7 gpa. I love my school, but at this point I have certain problems with it and I also really just want to be at college in DC. It looks like I shouldn't have a problem transferring to American University, and I may have a decent shot of getting into Georgetown. The possible problem that I see with then applying to law school is that my recommendations would be weaker, as I will only have a year or so to build relationships with my new professors. Is it worth it to transfer, or should I just stay put for two more years?

I'd say the most important factor is keeping the GPA up.

Two things matter to adcomms: LSAT and GPA. If you think you will have better grades if you transfer, do it. If you prefer a familiar environment, stay.

Obama transferred, he did ok.

Seriously though - the only thing that matters from your UG is your GPA. As long as you can maintain that you'll be fine. I transferred and got both my LORs from my new school after only being there a year.

As a matter of curiosity, might I ask which school you are going to now?

I transferred and only got 1 LOR from new school (got other one from prof at old school) and then one non-academic one

Ok well at this point it all depends on how much each school would cost me compared to what I'm paying now. If the money is around the same, then I'll definitely consider transferring.
