reallyyy screwed up

So as a low-LSATer, my 4.07 GPA was all I had going for me... I made the DUMBEST mistake and forgot about an assignment in one of my classes, so I am going to be getting two A-'s this term, leaving me with a 3.86 GPA for the semester, and bringing my 4.07 down to at least a 4.06 or 4.05.

I'm not too worried about the overall GPA on my CAS since it's still above a 4.0, but do you think that schools looking at the new transcript will see it as declining performance? (I took one less class than usual too)... Is this going to hurt me in any way, or am I being neurotic?

Probably on the side closer to being neurotic. Above a 4.0 is really all you need, and it serves the same function as being above the 75th percentile.

Won't matter. You're still above median for the only schools youcan get into with a sub 170.

hah, okay, I hope you're all right. I even emailed my teacher after realizing I blanked on this assignment, and he probably would have changed my grade had I had gotten to him yesterday (before submitting grades). Just so pissed that my whole GPA is going down because of a careless error

How low is your LSAT? Odds are 1 pt there would compensate for a full gpa pt.

This guy can't be serious.

Seriously? Dude, nothing wrong with A-'s. You have a 4.0...to say there's nothing to worry about is an understatement.

You could include a GPA addendum, but it might do more harm than good. I probably wouldn't if I were in your shoes. Congrats on the awesome GPA, and I'm jealous that your school gives A+s :)

I'm actually thinking about including a GPA addendum for my somewhat similar situation. I have a B and a B+ from a high school summer program and a 4.0 at my undergrad, which brings my LSDAS GPA down to a 3.94-3.95. Do you all think an addendum in this situation is a bad idea? TIA!

Jesus christ. No. Neither you nor OP should write an addendum.

From what I've read it seems live everyone suggests that the only thing that matters is being above median gpa. i think you'll be ok.

Don't hate. :) I don't know if the OP is a flame or not, but I had a legitimate concern. I know if sounds neurotic, but I've worked extremely hard in UG, putting in ~60+ hours a week, so it bothers me that a stupid decision when I was 16 is affecting (at least in some small way) my law school applications. I also don't have a stellar LSAT--168--so we (I think I can speak for the OP here) want our GPAs to be as high as possible. (And yes, I'm planning to try to retake before I apply next fall).

It's late, I think I'm just going to go to bed and hope to wake up realizing that this thread was just a bad dream.

I don't think this was a flame. I just looked through her post history, and it seems legit.

Even though GPA is well over 75 percentile, I thought higher GPA(3.9 v. 4.1 etc) helps in terms of 'index number' that lines up candidates. Can anyone clarify it?

I know you didn't mean this, but it's really funny to imagine that the schools he couldn't get into might have a 4.06 GPA median.

I thought he said his lsac gpa is in the 3.8's? If it's 4.06 then yea-no diff.

Sadly, you are going to fit in great in law school.

(P.S. "Fit in" means you wont be the only one spending weekends in the library outlining while thinking self loathing thoughts.)

It could be worse, you could be at a school where the highest grade is an A.
