Top Law Schools

I just have a few questions regarding admissions. I graduated in 08 (probably the worst time to graduate job wise) My plan was to work a little, save some money and then apply to LS, but in spring 2010 I has a severe accident at my job (slipped on wet substance and fell down a flight of stairs), too make it worst I was in a severe accident with a truck driver 6 months later which made my injuries even worse. Since my accidents I have been in therapy and found to have a total disability and collect social security at the ripe old age of 32. This is not what I planned for in life and would like to get back on track and attend law school. My disabilities are orthopedic and depression related ( depressed because I am on social security.) I have been feeling good for the past 2 months and would like to take the Oct. lsat if I continue to improve. My question finally is, How would law schools feel about someone applying who is collection SS and has or had a disability? My resume would not show much I did work many jobs while attending college nothing special (mostly blue collar work) , but since my accident almost 2 years ago I have not been active other then therapy and doctor visits.

My GPA was decent at 3.26 ( great upward trend) Social Science major and I can confidently say I can score a 160+ on the lsat. I am interested in some cali schools, but open to anything. Your opinions would really help me out a lot, thanks

Law schools won't care much about the gap in your resume. They mostly care about your LSAT/GPA. Put an addendum in your application and you will be fine.

Thats pretty much all I have lol Lsat and GPA and maybe some decent recommendation letters. I just want to get back on track I have a family and it has been hard for all of us and I just want to make things better for all of us and get off this dam SS, thats why I was thinking of cali, we deserve to enjoy the sun lol.

You seem like you're in great shape to me.

I hate to be the debbie downer, but California is an extremely competitive state to attend law school in. With your GPA, barring a fairly high LSAT (163-165+?), you probably won't get into any decent law schools there. I would look at other states, but I will warn you that Florida is in rough shape as well. You might have to compromise on the sunshine if you want a job.

No it's not a downer. I can get a URM status and from what I have been reading a upward trend can go a long way, it was my 1st year that messed my whole GPA up, after my first year my GPA ranged from 3.0 to 4.0 so I hope that would make a difference, plus the fact I worked full time with a family through my undergrad could help, I hope.

Cali schools I like so far are UCLA, USC, Irvine and Pepperdine
