Quick general question that I need answered quickly! Please!

I am finishing up my fall semester in my Senior year of undergrad. As it stands, my GPA is a 3.67. I anticipate my GPA dropping a little bit after these semester grades. Should I rush to submit my applications before I get these grades back. When I do get these grades back, DO I HAVE TO UPDATE MY TRANSCRIPT TO EACH LAW SCHOOL? Thanks!

Send transcripts now. They will not ask for an update until you're already accepted and in. By then it won't matter.
What might matter is that you waited until the twelve days of Christmas to send them off though.

Thank you for your reply! Just to clarify, submit them even though I am going to take the LSAT again in February?

Keep in mind when you send them to the LSAC they automatically send them to schools you have apps pending at (if you've already paid for the app)

Yes, just send the admissions office an email saying you are retaking in February, in case there is no place on the application.

So just to clarify..... I have not submitted or paid for any applications, I have taken the LSAT once already and am retaking in June, and I have one LOR. Simply put, my applications are incomplete. Despite the incompleteness I can still submit with my CURRENT GPA and that will be the ONLY GPA on record for these schools?

Actually i think he shouldn't submit unless I'm confused. If you want June of 2012's LSAT to count, you can't use this years apps. All apps are done for 2011-2012 by June. I'm pretty sure you would have to wait until next September when the new apps come out, at which point they'll have your updated grades.

I don't want June to count. I'm taking again in February and I won't those scores to count AND my gpa AS OF RIGHT NOW to count.

I am incredibly confused. OP, are you applying this or next year?

I would like to attend law school in the fall but I am not opposed to going the fall after. I took the LSAT once (June) and did not score as well as I would've liked. I am taking it again in February and will most likely (knock on wood) score 5-6 points higher than I did in June.
If I were to apply for the coming fall: My grades THIS SEMESTER will most likely bring my overall GPA down a little bit. Can I submit applications now (with my current GPA of 3.67) before the grades for this semester come in and lower my overall GPA? Will the law schools see that my GPA has lowered?

I'm getting the feeling that OP doesn't really understand how admissions works.

Can you enlighten me? I think it's a reasonable question.

Your overall cumulative GPA is what's counted by schools. Regardless of whether or not you want your RIGHTNOWOMG GPA to count, it won't--it'll be your cumulative GPA that matters. Also, I doubt the difference made by your fall semester grades will amount to much. Also, it'd probably be best to sit out this cycle and wait to apply until next fall, for a lot of reasons.

I know not many people do it, but you are, in fact, obligated by the contracts you sign in the application process to update the schools with your transcripts as soon as they're released. Most schools recognize that this won't result in a huge swing in your GPA, so they don't care, but the correct answer is that you do have to update your application whenever new grades are released.

+1
OP you could submit your applications now and notify the schools that you have a new LSAT coming in February. They would hold off on making a decision until that test score arrives, and would probably not ask for your updated transcripts. This would combine your current GPA (excluding this fall) and the next test. How bad are your grades? Are we talking below a 3.2?
However, i believe it is harder to get into most schools with a February test. Schools have less seats available and less scholarship money.

John thank you for your taking the time to respond and not giving me some smart*** answer. It might end up being a 3.3 or 3.2. Unfortunately, I might end up getting a C- in a class. I am going to try and rush to get these applications in before fall semester grades come out!

The twelve days of Christmas are December 25 through January 5. Just sayin'.
