Pros and Cons of ED

What are the pros/cons of applying ED?

I just read that EDing would reduce/eliminate chances of a scholarship - is that right?

Is NU the only school that offers more scholarships (full scholarships) to students accepted through ED?

Also, does it really increase the odds of getting in for borderline applicants?

I read that UVa and NU give a significant boost to people who apply ED. What about NYU? Georgetown?

Pros -- Better chance of admission
Cons -- Eliminates scholarship negotiation

With the obvious plus/con of being locked in at that school.

I think in some cases it can limit your scholarship chance. In other cases if you're accepted ED you get close to or full tuition. Not certain, but I may have seen that Northwestern does that. Complete guess, but that deadline has probably already passed for this cycle.

I think ED'ing would help your chance at admission, because they know you'll almost certainly matriculate. Dunno if you're stats are borderline, but my gut says yes.
