Extended an opportunity to interview for GT. Is this common?

I think someone said on here before that they do interviews with boderline candidates. Hopefully more people can elaborate on this topic.

Fairly common. IIRC the stats for people who are interviewed are ~40% are admitted, ~30% W/L or Priority Waitlisted and ~30% denied. HTH

ETA: I recalled incorrectly.

What's the difference between regular W/L and priority waitlist? Is it just that the priority waitlistees are the first ones taken off?

I have no idea what the difference is. So far, I haven't seen an explanation on TLS.

ETA: Went back through the GULC thread and found the exact numbers. I was off on my previous post.
This information was distributed directly from Georgetown:

Admissions Decisions for Interviewed Applicants for 2008:
39% put on Preferred Waitlist
37% Admitted
7% Denied
17% General Waitlist
