Timing

Post by hownowbrowncow » Fri Nov 25, 2011 3:24 pm

I know a lot of these schools have deadlines for Feb 1, but if I want a good shot of getting into Columbia, NYU, Stanford, Harvard, etc. should I get my applications in earlier? And how much earlier? My stats are 170, 3.7 from an Ivy, URM. Thanks.

You're not too late. Just get them is ASAP. Schools accept most students well in advance of that deadline. Ideally, your apps should have been submitted already.

you mean for next year right?

this time in my app cycle i was already in at several schools :/ get those apps in ASAP, before thanksgiving is generally preferable but you still have time. lots of schools do rolling admissions.

Right, if I want to attend for the fall of 2012. I was planning on having them all submitted by Dec. 10 (I work two jobs and have very little spare time). Is it urgent enough that I should push that up to December 1?

Best way to put it is:

12/10 flawless applications > 12/1 unpolished applications

So just send out your applications the minute you feel they are your best work.
