I'm not sure what you mean. My post is in regard to undergrad work in relation to law school admission.

Ohhhhh, for undergrad? Michigan has a much better national reputation, will help you with legal hiring if you go to law school and with other job opportunities if you come to your senses and don't go to law school at all. For LS admissions though it won't matter either way (except for the GPA thing, but don't count your GPA chickens before they hatch.

What do you plan on majoring in?

I would do 3 years at UMich, because the "college experience" (as you termed it) was extremely important to me. I can't imagine wanting to graduate in 2 years.

I agree with the others. I graduated in 2.5 years and feel like I definitely missed out some of the college experience...I didn't feel like I was part of the class who graduated the spring before me or the class who graduated the spring after me. While it ended up being the right financial decision for me, I feel like I would have been able to enjoy college a lot more if I had spent more time there. Also, don't underestimate the ability to get into clubs/school activities- it's hard to really get into that kind of stuff when you're only there for 2 years. E.g. It would be hard to get voted into student senate if you're 2 years younger than everyone in your class and they know you will only be there for 2 years. Also, like everyone said, the University of Michigan is a better school and if you're able to go there with no loans, then you should definitely take that opportunity. I've never had the "college experience" and don't feel I've missed anything, but you might. Michigan does have a better reputation nationally and if you decide for whatever reason that you don't want to go to law school between now and the end of college, you will have better job prospects with the more prestigious school. Also, you may be able to get a little alumni sympathy from hiring partners that went to Mich, and it has a much larger network.

Do 4 years. Enjoy young adulthood.

Around 20k since I'm instate, but if I graduated from MSU I would have to spend money on summer courses.

2 years for sure. I was over undergrad after soph. year, and was lucky enough to graduate a semester early without having to do any extra work. The best part of undergrad is freshmen year, then it slowly goes downhill because nothing is new. It's fun when before cliques form, house parties make you feel old, and the bar college bar scene is, well, a college bar scene. I was sick of house parties halfway soph year, the bars were lame at the same point. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends here, I met a lot of close, good friends that I plan on staying in touch with after graduation, but combined with the monotony of undergrad work, the lack of challenging courses, and just maturing out of the experience, I would say get it done ASAP. Unless you want to live in a bubble for an extra year, which is what most of my peers want. I loved my undergrad experience, but if I could have finished it in in 2 years, I would have unquestionably done so.

For the record, you want to go 3 if you can so that you don't turn into this guy.

Go to Michigan. If you don't wind up in law school (maybe even if you do), you will appreciate the difference in opportunities and prestige.

I've bet I've gone out more than most people on here, but it gets so old after soph year. Honestly, as an upperclassmen, do you have fun at the same old house parties filled with stupid, drunken freshmen girls, at least one of whom is puking drunk, and feeling way too old for that scene? Seeing the drunken freshmen make poor decisions? Or the standard bar crawls to the same strip of bars with the same crowd every weekend? It's the same old shit, and it's boring. The classes aren't challenging after soph year, assuming you tested out and started taking upperlevel courses freshmen and soph year. Undergrad is an easy time, no responsibilities, tons of freedom, but it gets repetitive. A lot of people don't mind it, but I typically get sick of things quickly. I have ADD and things get old really quickly. Just offering a different perspective. If you enjoy the same stuff you did freshmen and soph year, good for you. Stay 4 years and waste that extra money you could instead use to backpack through Europe (which is why I am graduating early. I think that's a far better use of my time than undergrad).
