Do other schools know if you ED somewhere?

Post by msblaw89 » Wed Nov 16, 2011 2:32 pm

Just wondering if other schools know/are notified if you apply ED to a specific law school? Thanks

some schools share their list of ED admits, but before you are accepted, they wouldn't know

They'll know if you tell them.

But I don't think LSAC shares that information, if that is what you're asking. Regardless, if you're asking because you're thinking of doing so, don't. It's dishonest.
+1

This link suggests that sharing of ED lists isn't uncommon, even if only after the student is admitted ED.

I was just curious if I applied ED, if other schools would get wind of it and then hold off on an admissions decision... or even worse reject me

I obviously wouldn't mind if the school shared that I EDed AFTER I was accepted...but not before

From a school's perspective, it's nice to be an applicant's first choice, but certainly not an auto-ding if they have other schools above you. Don't worry so much about this.

To clarify, I was DEFINITELY not saying that it's okay to ED to more than one school. That's just not smart.

No, I did ED to only one school... I was concerned that other schools I applied RD would see that I applied ED to another school and thus not accept me

what if you ED to one school... and other schools also find out that you ED'd to this one school and then decide not to accept you because you have ED'd to another school.. and the school you ED'd to doesn't accept you either? That's not cool that the deans share ED lists before students are admitted... THAT is unethical imo... moreso than us EDing to multiple schools.

edit: just saw the above two posts.. but still I think it's a possibility of this going on if deans are sharing lists..

If you're an acceptable candidate, applying ED to a different school will not make or break your acceptance.

Wondered about this and found this semi-dead thread.

Wouldn't it make sense for schools that YP to hold off decisions on some ED candidates? Some candidates may be auto-admit EDs, in which case YP schools would want to hold off on giving an acceptance. Right?
