How Does a "W" look on my transcript
I was just wondering how a "W" in a class looks. If I choose to drop a class and come out with a "W" in the class as in I dropped it half way through the semester and withdrew from the class, how does this effect my GPA?

W=no impact unless you have a tons of Ws
WF=F adverse impact on your GPA
So always keep paying attention to a syllabus to know when is the mid point when you can get W if you withdraw from the class.

WF = Withdraw failingNjdeh wrote:Thanks for the quick reply!

If you withdraw early in the semester (ie, right after the add/drop period), you'll receive a W on your transcript. However, after a certain point, your school will assess a WP (withdraw passing) or WF. A WP has no effect on your GPA, but a WF is calculated as a F. This is to prevent people from dropping a class late in the semester once they realize a F is inevitable.

Like a "W". There isn't much adcoms can make from the grade (or non-grade) unless you have a lot of them. One here and there will have almost no effect. People withdraw from classes for a lot of reasons. If you withdrew from that class because of a hardship, explain it in an addendum. If you did really well that quarter/semester, then you look like a genius who knows how to schedule courses. It's all the better if you took the class in a later term and did well.Njdeh wrote:I was just wondering how a "W" in a class looks.

If you only have one, no difference whatsoever
