Change from RD to ED

Hey guys,

Is it possible to change from a RD application that has already been submitted to an ED application, granted you still meet the deadline?

In my situation, when I initially applied, I didn't apply ED because I wasn't sure that one of my letters of recommendation would be in on time, and more importantly, I was hesitant to apply ED to a place I had never seen before.

After having a chance to see the school and subsequently speaking with a current student, I would like to apply ED. Is it possible, and what is the procedure?

Thanks all

Maybe ask this question to the admissions office and include the reasons you have here. I don't see it hurting you at all.

Agreed. Then report back to TLS with your findings? :D

It is possible to change an RD application to ED.

However, if you have already been accepted RD, what is the point? You can simply choose to go their and use your other acceptances to leverage money. You do not need to unnecessarily bind yourself to the school.

i think OP meant "received", not "accepted"

Pretty big difference between those two.

In that case, I know you can do this. But speak to the school's admissions office. Different schools may have different policies regarding switching a RD application to ED, but I see little reason not to honor such a request if done before the requisite deadline.

Awesome, thank you for the help.
