I did no studying for the SAT, and about a week and a half's worth of studying for the LSAT, so if it was a one-to-one comparison, I should've done slightly better than predicted, but I suppose the studying might compensate for the number of brain cells I killed with bad decisions throughout college. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy with my standardized test-taking abilities.

Did nothing in high school. Played football and baseball and only cared about that. Didn't even look at anything SAT related until the test. Had an 89 Average in high school. Went to community college and then a pretty good undergrad. Finished college with a 4.1 LSAC GPA.

I guess this formula is only relevant for people who put equal time into both.

I think people on this board are going to tend to higher LSAT score : SAT score ratio than most test takers. This board attracts particularly high LSAT scores. I mean, Harvard undergrad's average LSAT score is a 165... I imagine the average SAT of those takers was ~1500. I feel like, over all takers and not those who performed exceptionally on the LSAT, the calc is going to overstate LSATs.

That being said, the calc hit my practice LSAT range, but overstated my actual score. Then again, I did much better on my math SAT than verbal, and apparently the verbal section correlates better.

Hm. predicted I would get a 173, I got a 171. I actually can't properly balance the longer period of time I studied in HS + complete disregard for college admissions vs. the intense focus and really short period of time I studied for the LSAT. Let's just say I ace math and just do well on verbal and writing, lol.

yea, perhaps the calc overstates LSAT for those of us who did much better on the math section. 100 pts higher on math for me.

Doubling up my verbal score instead of the aggregate verbal and math gives me 170.5, doubling up SAT II writing gives me 171.5, which is pretty much dead on. Nice formula and fun to think about

though i should say my first lsat was a 164 with <3 weeks study time. and the sat was off zero studying. i'd say pretty darn accurate.

The +/-5 is HUGE though, in some cases we are talking the difference between 70th and 90th percentile.

This formula is bunk. Many people go from 50% to 99% on the LSAT. These scores, when compared to a test in which these kinds of improvements are far less likely, makes for entertainment at best.

This formula says I should be scoring a 168. And that is what my average has been lately. I now fully expect to score this on my December test.

But what's even crazier is that I took the SAT the day "Last Samurai" came out when I was a sophomore in high school. I remember because afterwards me and my friends walked to the movie theater. Guess what date that was? DECEMBER 5th. OMFG this is destiny.

I found it interesting and thought I'd relay it. It was EXACTLY on for me.

LSAT = (SAT*/21) + 101 (m.o.e +/-5)

If my SAT guess is correct, then this formula gave me my diagnostic LSAT score. Haha. That's about right, since I did absolutely no preparation for the SAT and I only took it once. I didn't even know what kind of questions were on the SAT and I didn't really care...

I wonder if it goes backwards. LSAT score after preparation = SAT score if I had prepared?

I did better on the LSAT. I think it was because the LSAT didn't have math.
