Top Law Schools

I'm of two minds about how to use ED. I know that EDing can be a really excellent way for people to get into their reach schools. On the other hand, I feel like it might better be used to get into a reach-target. I was thinking of EDing to UVA because I feel like it could make the difference between admit/reject. Numbers-wise I'm pretty unspectacular (170/3.8 ); I don't effect their medians. Also, I'm a non-URM with virtually non-existent softs. I'm a decent writer, though, and I hope that is reflected in my PS.
Note: I can't say I'm disappointed in my LSAT score, but I could certainly do better. I'm sure I can improve by 5+ pts if I take it in June (I haven't done any prep since September and non-disclose is out of the question), but I really don't want to (read: can't afford to) sit this cycle out.

Why can't you afford to retake in June? If you're "sure" you can prove 5+ points next June, you're doing yourself a huge disservice and potentially costing yourself tens of thousands of dollars.

I don't have a stable income. I work for intermittently for my parents. When I suggested that I sit this cycle out, they were furious. But they made a really good point. I need to move on with my life, and deferring law school is putting that life on hold. Honestly, if I had something compelling to occupy me for the next year it wouldn't be a problem. The economy is rough and jobs are scarce. I know it's a platitude, but it's absolutely true. I've applied for a lot of jobs, even many that I'm over-qualified for, and nothing has turned up. It's really demoralizing.

How old are you? That's some awful advice from your parents, no offense. There's no need to rush to go to law school. In fact it might actually be better to wait a little as the economy improves.

IF you have income issues, then that's one thing, although I think you should be able to find some kind of job to support yourself especially if you live at home. I don't see that as a viable excuse. Go on craigslist and blanket all the retail, customer service, admin jobs.

Not being able to find a job is a bad reason to rush yourself to law school. If you are happy with your score and don't think you can do any better go ahead with this cycle. If you're "SURE" that you can improve 5 points then you need to re-take.

Good advice. I hadn't considered teaching the LSAT, but I might as well give it a shot.
