Top Law Schools

I am a student from France and here the grading system is really different. My GPA is not that good. Ive studied a lot for the lsat, I will take it in december and I think I will score at leat 160 (I get 163 when I practive last time). Its a good score for me because english is not my native language.

So my question is, do you know any good law school, that look more at the LSAT than at the GPA. Reverse question, do you know some Law Schools that look more at the gpa than at the lsat.

I search with "more lsat gpa" and "lsat gpa" and I found nothing.

In general I would say that the LSAT is weighed more heavily at most institutions (with the exception of UC Berkeley). If you are international student, most schools here will weigh your LSAT score more, because they probably are not familiar with the rigor of your academic program.

Check under the column of LSAT/GPA Ratio. The higher the number, the more heavily they weight the importance of the LSAT. That being said, your gpa may not hurt you as bad as you may think since it won't be able to be reported to USNWR and therefore affect the rankings.

163 will probably keep you out of the top tier schools, but you may find a home at the mid-to-bottom of tier 1 (top 50 schools)

nope, not sure. You should verify with others and I believe the LSAC webpage answers how foreign undergrad performance is reported. Never had to deal with this, but if they don't have a 4.0 scale, I am not sure how they'd be able to report to USNWR. LSAC will still report your performance to the schools and they'll still evaluate it, but since it won't affect the medians, I don't see it impacting you as much as a 2.5 gpa in the states would.

I'd encourage you to call LSAC and ask about your GPA being reported (although I really don't know if an international phone call would be expensive for you). Their customer service is actually quite helpful.

If that would cost you money, just send them an e-mail and they will respond within a week.

France GPA rigor is well known, if you are really concerned, then you might want to attach an addendum explaining it.


I feel that most people in academia will know the situation.

last they completely forget that gpa rigor when I sent my transcripts...
