WARNING to people using PAGES on Mac

Hey guys, for anyone with a Mac using Pages that doesn't already know, if you save your stuff as a .doc thinking you can then just upload that to your application, be careful. For my resume it messed up the fonts and the length, and for my PS it made it a few lines longer taking me over the page limit.
If anyone knows any ways around this I'd love to hear it! Right now I'm just retyping my stuff on my roommate's laptop cuz he has Word and I'll just submit from there.

Who cares if they gave you a $100 Apple Store gift care. This is why you by Microsoft Office for Mac.

Yeah identical fonts/sizes/margins produce different things on the two apps. You should convert EVERYTHING to a PDF before you submit anyway.
This will solve all your problems.

Unfortunately, no OneNote for the Mac version.
Otherwise, yes, definitely buy Word. It's the industry standard -- the sooner you learn how to use it the better.

FYI -- this is what somebody from an admissions committee told me, so I just presumed it would.

Why buy Word when you can get OpenOffice for free?

Because development of OpenOffice died when Oracle bought Sun. Also, OpenOffice still has the occasional formatting issue with .docx files.

(I love OpenOffice and it's a shame it died -- but, if everyone in your firm uses Word you better know how to use Word just as well as OpenOffice.)
