The reason for URM Boost

Hello, I have read so many times that law schools are primarily concerned with the combination of LSAT and GPA because of US NEWS ranking.
Out of curiosity, does admitting URMs actually help law schools boost their rankings? or it is just part of affirmative action that creates diversity in law schools even though it could hurt their ranking?
I am neither for nor against URM boost. Just want to know the rationale behind it other than diversity.

I only find how many LSAT points URM usually can get. Anyone really knows the answer?

I know. But they usually ban anyone who talks about anything about URM besides the rules and what you can expect. So I was just getting it started for you.

I know. But they usually ban anyone who talks about anything about URM besides the rules and what you can expect. So I was just getting it started for you.
Seriously? Why is talking about the reason for URM boost really taboo even though I explicitly said I am not against it? So what you mean is that it actually does not help the rankings of law schools, correct?

Yeah. I read this case. I am NOT saying why law schools should or should not accept URMs.
Question is Does Diversity helps the U.S. law school ranking? and Why does the status of URM seem to outweigh the U.S. ranking even though you guys are saying law schools are all number game.

It is not likely that it is the reasoning of the schools for practicing it. There are too many unanswerable questions if that is so, and the other reasons are much more likely anyway.
The decision explains the courts reasons for not striking it down. Hence by comparison to Wickard.

There is no direct measure of diversity in the rankings formula. One could make a case for it being indirectly relevant to the rankings through the reputation measure, or to it being necessary to attract high quality applicants, but I imagine that the actual reasons for the policy are not related to rankings.

I don’t know why everyone was jumping on the OP for asking this question. It seems like a legit question to me and I don't think he/she was fishing for an AA debate. The OP is asking if the amount/% of URMs a school takes factors into the USNWR rankings. I know the academic profile of incoming students, employment stats, and reputation scores are factors in a school's rank, I am not sure what/if anything else is included.
I think this is an especially relevant question given the current environment for law school admissions. Applications are falling and schools are trying to maintain their medians, it follows that if the amount of URMs a school takes has little affect on the school's ranking, schools may opt to take less URMs with low numbers and go for people with higher LSATs/GPAs. This would mean URMs with low numbers would get less of a boost. Likewise, I could see schools recruiting URMs with high numbers even more aggressively in order to both preserve their medians and bring in a diverse class.
