Top Law Schools

1) When you are doing the education section of the application, do you just include your main university from where you obtain your bachelors? Or do I also include the community colleges I have taken one or two classes at?

2)Are you supposed to list all the schools your applying too when they ask?

3) If you are a non-URM, I was once given advice to refuse to answer that question (decline to respond option)? I feel like thats not a good way to go about it, but I was just wondering.

4) U. Georgia doesn't require you to submit your resume. Should I still consider submitting it under additonal information?

2) no, you can just list a couple (typically the ones in a similar range, rankingswise).

3) i have no idea, but i have an ethnic (non-urm) name which gave me away anyway.

4) yep. the employment section doesn't give you much space to describe your jobs, and more detail is probably better.

As for #3, just check the appropriate box. They aren't going to give you a boost for declining to answer and when they find out you're whiter than Louis C.K., it'll just look like you're trying to game the system. Don't try to game the URM system. It doesn't work.

Of course it won't give you a boost, but I don't think they will hold it against you either. They will just assume you're white (or whatever your name implies). I declined in my second cycle and did fine in the admissions process.

FWIW, "decline to state" is the highest-performing race on the LSAT by a huge margin.

Its the same as answering 'Caucasian.' No URM is going to decline to respond. That just leaves a bunch of whiteys trying to give themselves an imaginary boost. I'm not an admissions official, but I would give more points to the person who owns up to what they are rather than to the one who tries to gloss over it. And for whats its worth, there's no shortage of whites in law school..we're not being discriminated against.

I listed everything that fit for #2, FWIW. I don't think they give a shit - they get all that info from the LSAC anyhow.

there are also asians/ORMs though - it's not such a big deal in LS admissions, but i can see how an asian person with an englishy name might decline to state for college apps...

Race can be a factor in determining acceptance due to affirmative action, but race cannot be the only factor.
