Top Law Schools

So I am sort of slacking with my school work this semester. Well, I'm not doing terribly but up to my general standard due to all this PS and app stuff. How much should I worry about this affecting my cycle?

Unless you have an LSAT that is 175+, do not slack off in senior year. The possibility of a retake should always be lurking in the back of your mind. You can't change your GPA once you graduate, but you can always reapply to schools after a disappointing cycle.

Some schools will hold applicants and request senior grades (Columbia is known for this).

I usually get a 4.0 (After my freshman year). Looks like I'll probably get a 3.5 this semester (only taking 12 credits)

1 class is all essays and the lady gives 1 person a test an "a" and then like 80% of the class a "B" so o well fuck it

The other I definitely have just been slacking because of law-school / graduation things (need to submit this huge busy work filled portfolio soon)

I am also in the same boat as you, ThreeRivers. I am taking 4 classes/12 credits this semester, instead of my usual 5 classes/15 credits. To date, I have a 3.9 UGPA/4.0 LSAC (Go A+) By slacking off, I mean I just got back a paper with a B+. Generally, I'd very upset about this, but unlike what I imagined it to be, this is class is a ridiculous amount of readings. My personal statement is consuming most of my free time.

Calculate your LSAC GPA with the worst case result. If you dip below any medians then I would say it's not worth it, however it sounds unlikely unless you've got a small number of credits at the moment.

Yea sounds like me in my 1 class

In my other class I had 1 open class in which I could take anything, I registered before coming across TLS and was under the false asumption that "hey law schools will like it if I took a law class." Now just finding out that the class is for paralegals / the professor "doesn't believe in A's"....

I took a whole bunch of legal courses just because I generally find them interesting. This class that I am talking about here is the last of my major requirements. Next semester, I can pretty much take anything I want, but first I have to get through this semester with not too much harm done... lol

Yea, 3 years of good grades isn't going to be severely affected by a B+.

Don't worry about it.

You're a senior now. Couple of B's and B+'s will marginally affect a GPA that is as high as 3.9

Just nothing lower than a B.

so do schools require you to submit your first semester senior grades as soon as they become available? Or does your transcript automatically get updated through LSAC when the grades become available? I was hoping they simply ask for a final transcript after graduation, when it is a bit too late for them to make any enrollment changes. Thanks.

what gpd do they report? The one you apply with or your final after you graduate?

I heard that most schools don't make you do this. I mean I doubt if you got in and your GPA went down a little that they would "unaccept" you, but still I tend to run on the side of paranoid.... I'm supposed to be doing a paper right now that's 25% of my grade... lol

You're supposed to keep your information up to date, which includes sending in an updated transcript when you get it.
