Maximum LORs for Cornell?

According to the Cornell application instructions, a 'grand total' of two letters of recommendation are required.
According to the Cornell website FAQs, 'applicants may submit more, but often additional letters of recommendation are repetitious and add little value to an applicant’s file.'
Is submitting more than two a big no-no, regardless of the quality of the recommendation? ('Grand total' sounds like a maximum to me...)
Or is going over the soft two letter limit advisable if the additional letter will bring complimentary information not revealed elsewhere in the application?
