Northwestern Question

Post by tmcarj » Wed Oct 12, 2011 4:30 pm

Hi

I was planning on applying to Northwestern Early Decision. I just realized though that the mandatory on campus interview must be completed by November 15th and my transcripts most likely won't be processed by then since I just sent them on Monday, so my application won't be complete.

Now I am going to have to apply regular decision - so now am I totally screwed? I have a 3.2 gpa and a 174 LSAT and 2 years of work experience (3 by the time I will matriculate). Once my transcripts are processed, my application will be complete, so I'm guessing it will go out sometime around November 14th or so.

Will not applying early decision drastically reduce my chances?

(sorry if this should be in "what are my chances" - I wasn't sure which forum to put it in).

You can schedule an interview before submitting your application

right, but Northwestern's website says that they would prefer that all early decision applications be in by November 14th and I don't know if mine will be. I will try, but assuming I can't get my app in on time/ I can't get out there for an interview before the 14th and I have to apply regular, will that hurt my chances of acceptance?

I think you have a good shot getting in RD. One thing to note is that NU has a new ED scholarship program. Sounds like you haven't heard about it. But because of that, we don't know how competitive ED might shape up to be... they may only take people above medians rather than splitters b/c they have to give them a full ride.

You're fine. Getting in ED will now be more difficult than RD.

I still think an ED app that gets kicked to RD will get a bit of a boost.

I certainly hope so. OP, you seem like a good candidate for NU though! Best of luck and I hope we end up being classmates by next year

Thanks for the replies - very reassuring. I didn't know about the scholarship program. So now they have to give full rides to all applicants accepted ED?
