Top Law Schools

I've looked at the samples on Harvard website and most of the resumes are not bullet point. The only ones that ARE bullet point are the ones for those who have already graduated. However, they did add another sample into their "1L" samples and it's supposed to be a resume for someone applying to law school and it is done in bullet point style. I was just wondering how everyone is doing it - bullet points or paragraph style descriptions for jobs, etc. Thanks in advance!

My personal opinion is that if you have a lot to say, bullets are better; but if you don't, paragraph.

Your resume can be either in bullet-points or paragraphs. So long as you are able to describe fully your responsibilities, either will do.

Still can't decide what's best though. Just looked over the 3 samples that were included with application to law school on Harvard's website and all were bullet point style. Also, read the advice on TLS and it also says to use bullets but someone I know that is currently in law school says she was always advised to use paragraphs when applying to law school.

I know this isn't the main part of the application and I am probably overthinking it but it still plays a role.

Either one is completely, entirely fine

Resumes on a law school app are there to inform. They're not like when you're applying for a job and you're trying to be one of the 1 in 10 that even gets looked at. All law school apps get looked at.

To make your life easier, do it with bullet points. I've seen that most frequently and it's short and to the point.

Another question....I interned at one firm for two summers and at another for two years (september through may). How would I list that?

Company A Summer 2009
......
......
Summer 2008
.......
.......


Company B Sept 2008 - May 2009
.........
.......
Sept 2007 - May 2008
..........
.........


Is that fine? I don't necessarily like that because when looking at my resume, the dates don't flow but listing the companies more than once just for the purposes of making the dates flow seems unreasonable. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have a similar situation with my LS resume and am separating the dates with a comma. I have the company justified left and the dates justified right so it doesn't look super crowded. So, it would look something like:

Company A Summer 2008, Summer 2009

Company B Sept 2007-May 2008, Sept 2008 - May 2009
