Top Law Schools

Hi, I'm a Mechanical Engineering Major from Washington University in St. Louis and am currently a sophomore in college but I was looking to go into patent law and attend law school. Recently, I was looking to apply for a co-op position with Boeing in the field of engineering, where I would attend school during the fall semester, work during the spring, and take summer school classes. I was wondering how this would be seen by law school admissions committees? Do they look kindly on co-op positions or would they see that as putting schoolwork on the backburner?

I also have a 3.97 cumulative gpa right now and I'm not sure how my grades would be affected by the co-op position, do you think it would be worth a potential fall in my gpa to take the co-op position? My dream school is Stanford but I understand how ridiculously hard it is to get in so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. Almost nothing is worth a drop in your GPA.

2. Most law schools like a variety of experiences and work experience is a plus for most and almost mandatory at Northwestern.
