Put me down for a decrease in applicants of 8%.
I'm exactly the kind of splitter who might benefit from a big decrease, but I never catch a break so that's why I'm going for a pretty small decrease, LOL.
No seriously, the reasons I'm going for a modest decrease even though June LSATs were down 19% are (a) the economic news is just awful lately and many people will panic-flee to the safety of three more years in school, and (b) just anecdotally, everyone I know, and his brother, seems to be taking the October LSAT.

I actually think news of the poor legal market is starting to really get out, which will dissuade some people.
That said, even if apps go down I'm not expecting a drop in standards for most top schools. A schools that rely on splitters may suffer (as UIUC did recently.)
That's my 2c anyways.

The number of LSATs administered is probably fairly reasonable indication:

Down significantly--about 10%--at non-top 14 law schools is my guess.

Just realized how funny the thread title is.
Edit: Never mind; when I typed that, the title asked, how much will applicants go down this year?

In the past 11 times the June LSAT saw a decrease in test takers, only 4 times has there been an overall increase, and those were (decrease in June/increase overall) (-4.2/1.3), (-5.4/0.2), (-1.5/1.

, and (-4.3/1.9).
I think we can be reasonably certain it is going to go down somewhat, considering the highest decrease ever in June (-9.1%) saw a modest -5.4 decrease overall. -18% will almost certainly guarantee an overall decrease, I'm guessing 15-20 percent.

TITCR. This means that you should get your hopes up and think this cycle will be easier than previous cycles, b/c it won't be. There will still be plenty of applicants applying to schools with relatively the same numbers as in previous cycles and odds are that schools will only accept the same percentage of people as in previous cycles. The law of large numbers is a bitch.

There may be a drop in standards outside of the Top 14.

kinda feels like it wont be as crazy as two or so years ago.
anyone know?
Wrong. It will rise because the media, like Suits, continues to perpetuate that a JD will automatically lead to fancy dinners, hot women, a clean haircut, turn you into a good looking suave douche, and housing in the most beautiful parts of Manhattan New York City.

If Suits is your "media", you deserve whatever you get. (love that show btw)
