So...I asked a similar question a couple days ago (beating dead horse, I know, I'm really sorry, sorry), but...
I haven't got many fee waivers from schools where I'm at the median and it's starting to get worrisome.
I know a lot of fee waivers go out to people who are below the school's medians (theoretically b/c they want to enhance their applicant pool), so what does it mean in my case? Is it because I went to a foreign UG?
Don't they send fee waivers to everyone in their 'range'?

It's a bit crazy but I can't stop thinking of the whole thing in necessary/sufficient terms - 'A fee waiver is not sufficient for your acceptance, but it is necessary mwhahahahaha'

Getting a waiver or not means pretty much nothing. Relax.

In many cases they seem to not grant Fee Waivers to those who are right in their target accept range because those individuals are likely to pay regardless.

They are more likely to give waivers to people who are numerically overqualified to entice them to apply to a school they might originally overlook, or to people who are underqualified to apply to a reach school.

In both cases it enables them to decline or waitlist more people and boost their USNWR stats.

If you have a fee waiver, you might as well apply -- it's only $12. What's the worst that could happen? Being rejected it much better than looking back and wishing you applied more broadly/aimed higher.

I would like this to be true, lol.
But for the few schools that did give me fee waivers so far, I am in their target accept range. I haven't gotten any from super-reach schools OR from lower-ranked schools. Blech, I just don't get the system - do they send them to everyone who's within the range of numbers? A randomly selected number of people within the range of numbers? gahhhh

I must have confused you. I meant I was worried because I wasn't getting many fee waivers, from schools where i'm at median, from reach schools, OR from total safety schools.

Prepare to psych yourself out over fee waivers. No matter how much you know it doesn't matter, your brain thinks it will. Mine is still weeping over the Cornell snub no matter how much I reason with it But in the end they really mean nothing.

Sorry, must have misread. Have you tried contacting these schools and asking for a fee waiver on basis of merit/need?
