It's usually only a thing if they went to the law school. Even then, i doubt it does much

Not unless the family member has the last name Bush, Kennedy, Scalia, Ginsberg, etc.

Usually no, because the law schools usually operate fairly independently from the rest of the school. The only kind of legacy that is likely to make any difference is a family member who graduated from the law school itself.
