Call the schools and ask. You do NOT want to get caught in a situation where you should have disclosed and didn't. Don't leave this to TLS to give a best guess as to what's necessary - find out from the schools themselves.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but I also had an academic warning and turned around the next semester and made dean's list, so I am interested to hear the answers. I was also wondering what you were writing to explain the warning? One school I am applying to wants a detailed explanation, but I feel like too much detail could make it seem like I am making excuses.

My impression of the quote you posted is that it applies to academic dishonesty or non-academic disciplinary issues, not poor performance.

But if you want to be sure, call the admissions office (anonymously) and ask.

Unfortunately, mine was my sophomore year- a culmination of many things that will make me look like I'm excusing my poor performance...

Just keep explanations short and sweet and focus on the positive - that you both were able to rebound and make it onto the dean's list in subsequent semesters.

I agree. I don't think in this example that they are asking about academic warnings.

Most schools want to know about Academic Probation, so I'd assume this applies here too. If the school says specifically that they don't ask for it, then leave it, but the status quo is including it. They'll see your semester breakdown either way.

I had the same issue when I was applying last year. My school actually has "academic warning," and "academic probation." Warning was unofficial, but if you didn't raise your GPA you were placed on "official" probation.

I called the registrars office, they looked through my record and told me there was nothing that I had to disclose. I would recommend that you do the same thing, and get something in writing from them (which I actually forgot to do).

My school is the same way. A warning is unofficial.

I don't believe that specific question will apply to you, but you still want to disclose that you were put on Academic Warning during that first semester.
