Only five schools have ever been ranked in the top 3 (HYS, UChicago, and UMich) by USNWR.

Michigan's never really been in the top 3

there's the rankings/hierarchy, and then there's the USNWR rankings

the latter attempts to codify the former, but the former exist independently of the latter

Back in the early 80s and before Harvard, Yale, and Michigan were definitely the top 3.

I better lock this in before Cooley proclaims No1 spot with their campus expansion and all.
