LSAC applications

Hi, I've been looking into starting my applications to law schools in the US. When I log in and click on a school name and then click on the Start/Continue Application button, most of the schools don't seem to have any active terms/programs. And the few that do have deadlines of Aug 18, 2011 or something... which I know can't be correct.
I was wondering, is this because I haven't signed up for CAS yet? Maybe I should have done that first and started this thread.
Or is it because it's too early to start applying? I'm also applying to a few Canadian law schools and most of them have deadlines of around Nov 1, and only a very few US schools have deadlines that early, so I was just wondering.
Any comments are appreciated, thanks!
