how important are extra curricular activities in applying to law schools?

i've done the same internship for two consecutive summers (in the government) and will be published in a secondary scientific journal for an article i wrote about scientific policy....

would this make up for the fact that i participate in no extra curricular activities during my school year? i'll be a junior this fall so i'm thinking that it would be hard for me to get a leadership position before i apply (i'm thinking about applying during my senior year then go straight onto law school)

what do you all think? :)

Softs are not that important in the scheme of things. Your softs are about average, maybe slightly above as I have heard that getting published is well-liked by adcomms. Not participating in extra-curriculars during the school year will not have a significant effect. They will be looking at your softs as a whole, which again, are small potatoes compared to your GPA and LSAT.
