Does an Early Decision applicant to a law school in general typically enjoy any sort of "boost" by simple virtue of being such an applicant. What about to Columbia University law school? If so, how much of a boost?

Yes, there is a boost.

Fool around with the early decision tool on this site to get a sense of how much: http://www.lawschoolpredictor.com/wp-co ... ograms.htm

There is a boost, but it's generally small. One dean described it as "a feather on the scale." At schools like Virginia, though, it can carry a little more weight. The boost at Columbia is probably near the small end since they're sought after by pretty much everyone.

From the gossip on here, I think the general feeling is that ED helps at V and NW but not much if at all at CN.
