For those with 175+/3.9+ and didn't get into HLS, what do you think happened that kept you out of HLS?

Last year people with those stats on LSN went 25 for 28. Out of the three who got waitlisted, one got into Yale and another got a full ride to Columbia.

Not much to worry about...

And the third applicant who got waitlisted seems to be Canadian. Maybe that's what they did wrong.

I've been asking this question too. It looks like a bad JR1 (phone interview) or a late application might also hurt your application.

Watch your mouth. There were several reasons for it, none of which are getting discussed publicly.

You would need a seriously bad JR1 to screw up your chances with those numbers... Basically as long as you can string together a few words, the JR1 won't actually affect your chances too much either way.

Do make sure your application isn't late though. While with those numbers it doesn't matter as much, once you hit 3.9+, 173+ (i.e. medians), then one of the key things is getting in a fairly early application.
