Bankrupcty/Restructuring law and PE law?

Post by Stallion91 » Tue Jul 26, 2011 3:22 pm

Are these the same thing?
I like the whole idea of private equity/venture capital, etc. I want to practice law in these types of areas where you help companies grow or restructure to be more profitable. Would bankruptcy/restructuring law and private Equity Law be the same thing?

Interested in these areas as well. As best I can tell from my halfhearted research, bankruptcy/restructuring and PE, while conceptually similar (in that you are trying to take an entity and make it more profitable) are in fact very distinct.

Bankruptcy/restructuring has its own set of federal courts and portion of the USC, while PE is just an extension of basic transactional work.

But I don't know for sure. Just my perception.
