Stanford Dean's Certification

When is it too early to send a dean's certification? I want to send it in August so that I can get my application complete sooner. Do I need to wait till apps come out?
Also, has anyone noticed on Stanford's updated JD admissions procedures for this app cycle, they don't have any form for school specific letters? (website:
http://www.law.stanford.edu/program/deg ... plication/)

they had a school specific letter form? maybe i'm remembering incorrectly, but i thought they had a school specific teacher evaluation (it was optional i think). wrt the dean's cert, why would you send it in before your application? just send in the rest of your stuff and drop it off at the dean's office...no need to explain to them how long to wait and hoping they actually remember to do so.

I think it might be posted when the application is released on September 1, 2011.

There is one they have online that is labeled 2011 formB. I'm sure getting this in to my school's administration now would result in them getting it turned in earlier. I just don't want to wait until September, give it to them, and then not have them send it in until November or December. With that said, I also don't want to turn in the wrong form.

I have the same fear, and someone else on this forum told me you *can* send in the certifications earlier than September. The schools will apparently save it for you until they get the rest of your application.

That sounds good. I guess I'll check on September 1st to make sure the form doesn't suddenly change, but I'll start the process now.

I spoke with a Stanford representative at an LSAC forum, and she said to send this in as soon as possible. They basically have a pile of them and will add them into one's file come September.

Is Stanford the only T6 school that requires this prior to admission?

It looks as though Yale is not requiring a Dean's Cert as part of the application this year -
"After an applicant is admitted, Yale Law School requires as a prerequisite to deposit a Dean's Certification Form from each college or university degree program in which an applicant is, or has been, enrolled, regardless of whether a degree was awarded. More information about Dean's Certifications is included in the materials sent to admitted students."

I called both Stanford and Yale. They both assured I could send them in at anytime and they would keep them for my application.

What is the standard procedure for waiving/not waiving rights to access Dean's Certificates? Is it like the LORs where everybody should waive? Or do most people not waive their rights? Does not waiving look bad to law schools?

Hi! I have a question about Dean's Certifications also. When I was in college, I was at a party that got busted for drinking. I was underage at the party, so I got written up even though I was not caught drinking. I was never actually disciplined, but I did receive a formal warning letter. Is this something that I would have to indicate to the schools that I am applying to? It seems so trivial that it wouldn't be necessary, but if it is something that they would want me to come forward with, I wouldn't want to get docked for withholding it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Seems like some people last year had already sent the Dean's Cert in at this point. I can't even find a mention of it on Stanford's website. Has anyone made any progress on this?
