Does this give you a boost?

I'm a legal assistant at a V5 (when I plan to apply I would of been for 2 years). I can get recommendations from associates and partners.

Just wondering if this gives any boost to one's admission cycle? I understand it is good for networking and evenutally an opportunity to come back.

Thanks!

Just a reminder, however...

most schools require at least one academic LOR from a professor. So, just be cognizant of that.

It depends what you mean by boost and it depends on the school.
  • Will it help you compete against people who have your same number? Yes, but there are a whole host of other factors to compare between two people of similar numbers.
  • Will it put you in play at places where your numbers aren't competitive? No.
  • Could it make or break you? Only if it's your first full time job after college and only at places where work experience is mandatory (NU is like this, Harvard is pushing towards this).

thanks bk!

I already have taken the lsat twice and scored a 159 on both. I plan on taking it one more time but that won't be til 2013.

I have some part time, internship and volunteer experience throughout college. But this is my first full time experience.

It won't give you any sort of a significant boost. Maybe a small boost.

Also, study harder and retake.

Definitely helps you get a job. Not sure if it helps at all to get into law school. Like I say in other threads, softs only distinguish you from other people in your GPA/LSAT combo. THey don't really bump you upward.
