Letters of Recommendation from siblings
My older brother is the Solicitor General for the state of Louisiana and I was wondering if it would be acceptable to get a letter of recommendation from him for law school? The only problem I would see with it is that he is related to me. On the other hand, he knows a lot about me and is very knowledgable in his field.

If you had worked for him before (e.g. intern, assistance, etc.), then you might ask him to write one from a professional/supervisor perspective. However, I still think it's leery.

Bad idea.
Stick to people like professors/employers who can account for the quality of your work.

If you worked for him then it would be appropriate to get a LOR from SOMEONE ELSE in his office since other ppl would have worked with you. I worked for my father's firm, and had another Partner who I worked more directly with write me a letter. Silly goose.
