Re: 0L Gunner Thread
Rather than reading and outlining an entire E&E, it would probably be less time consuming/more efficient if you got your hands on a top outline from an upperclassman and studied the topics that that particular professor actually covers/emphasizes.

0L prep is dumb and pointless.

I am pleased that a fellow Cornellian has similar summer habits. I have been wearing my Assy Mcgee shirt with "I am the law" written on it.Bildungsroman wrote:I've been playing xbox mostly, but I do sometimes yell out "may it please the court!" mid-coitus so I think I'm prepared enough.

Re: 0L Gunner Thread
Oh. And I bought GTM because it was recommended here. When I bought it, I didn't even know what it was. (It is about how to write a law school exam essay.)
I also didn't know that law school exams were essays.
I also didn't know that the whole grade is the exam until right before school started. (I forget when I found out about the curve.)
I read about 30 pages of GTM before school started.
I bought LEEWS because TLS forces it on us, and watched about 3 discs sometime in November until I decided I'd rather watch Netflix.
RE Trying to learn the topics: Law school classes are highly teacher specific. You will likely cover only a couple of chapters from the E and E. Since you don't know which ones, you are wasting your time.
But if you really want to waste it, get an outline from each possible professor (so if 4 sections, then get all 4 likely professors).

Re: 0L Gunner Thread
I quit my job early so I could have time to 1) relax and 2) do some prep this summer. I've read GTM, PLS, and LSC. I've also read my E&E's. Finally, I did LEEWS. I know everyone on TLS says this is pointless, but I feel more confident about going to law school now than I did previously. I think having some idea of what is going to happen helps. I know I won't retain most of the E&E's, but I have a broad sense of the direction of the courses. GTM and LEEWs are going to help a lot with legal analysis, I believe. The rest of the books are ok, and I'll probably come back to them later, but didn't seem like dealbreakers.
So I do that stuff for a little while each day. And then I play computer games for a while. It's perfect.
To OP: Outlining the E&E's is a waste because you have no idea what your class will actually focus on, and it's simple enough to get the black letter law from a commercial outline or from another student's outline.

Re: 0L Gunner Thread
I wrote a story called "the hunger".
It's about a girl who gets trapped in a fridge and her parents are looking for her, and the father wants to eat something, and the mother freaks out and him saying "how can you eat at a time like this". Well, they find the girl in the fridge and she's dead. Had they ate, she would have lived.
I wish, however, I would have started writing my transfer PS during the 0L summer, as I knew I'd probably want to transfer.

Haha, good stuff. I won't be gunning like that, though. I'll be more of a closet gunner.TTH wrote:Study this list: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3308682/tlsarchive/AAGunner.htm

Re: 0L Gunner Thread
Anyone on here found tips for writing 1L cover letters when you have significant WE? The generic CL and resume templates I have seen for LS are all geared toward people with little to no substantive work experience.

LOL at Torts E&E. There is like 4 hours of actual torts material. It's the easiest law class.

Because 1L is a grind, not a sprint, and you've just exponentially increased your chances of burning out before the end for very little likely gain.

Eh, I think I'll be fine. The test prep books were fairly easy reads and the substantive prep books are also easy reads because I'm just trying to get an overview of the material.thrillerjesus wrote:Legal Baller wrote: Since I have time to do it, why not?

Comon. There have got to be more gunners on these forums than just the few that have posted thus far.

Brah they're too busy gunning. Just think, every minute you waste on this forum is a minute you could have mastered some aspect of legal understanding. At this point, you're weeks behind.Legal Baller wrote:Comon. There have got to be more gunners on these forums than just the few that have posted thus far.
