Anyone get an e-mail from Columbia today specifically mentioning your undergrad university? No fee waiver, but I thought that was a nice touch. Unless they send them that way to everybody.

I think I got that e-mail months ago. Their admissions team certainly seems to have some interesting tactics. Like, giving me a fee waiver, stating it was for my LSAT, which is below their 25%. My first guess for why was because of just that, my undergrad, though my GPA was sub 3.5.

I wasn't tracking them having an exceptionally hollistic admissions process, does anyone know otherwise??

From ND:
Dear PurplePirate:
I invite you to consider Notre Dame Law School as you make plans for your legal education and career. From information provided by the Law School Admission Council, it appears that you are a competitive candidate for our admissions process. While you are likely a competitive candidate, this invitation does not include a fee waiver. If you have extreme financial need, you may request a need-based fee waiver by following the instructions on the website.

blah blah blah

...seriously, ND? Get over yourself.

To alleviate the financial burden of applying to Notre Dame, we have waived your application fee and have notified LSDAS regarding this waiver.  Additionally, we invite you to participate in a new application review program.  Because we believe you are a highly qualified candidate, we will expedite the review of your application so that you will have your decision within 15 business days.
Just got this

Lol, got the same as Take two, fee waiver, no 15 day thing.

Also, now that I'm getting these waivers, I think I could seriously be fucked. From the way it seems, the schools check CRS on a schedule. I've heard back from CLS, NYU, Mich, Duke, NW and a few others that have all either told me no merit or only through CRS (actually only NYU said no merit but they added by request, so I'm pretty sure CRS is still a go), but since my account was on hold during the initial wave of them sending out emails, I'm worried I won't get even looked at until next wave. I was really trying to at least get my NYU and possibly Mich app out this week, if they aren't in by friday I may just have to bite the fee despite not being able to afford them.

Food...or Law School...this is the question...

Just got an unsolicited fee waiver from Michigan in the mail - first top 14 waiver, too. (Next best was UCLA). Wasn't planning on applying (too cold!). Anyone think it's worth it to apply with a waiver - 169/3.65?

This can only be adequately answered if we know which food is at stake. Are we talking Shrimp or Creamy Chicken Ramen, or just the plain Chicken Ramen?

It's only worth applying if you can see yourself attending the school. If not, don't waste your $16 or their time.

Absolutely. Why wouldn't you apply? Well worth the $16.

UC Davis just rejected my waiver request, despite the fact that I am above their medians in both respects. I'm a little offended :/

I didn't get one for Hastings either.

On the bright side, I got UCLA today :)

Worse. It's my Chik Fil A budget :(

Also, for those of you who have gotten waivers by mail, is there a fee waiver ID in your mail, or is it done online and they are just alerting you. I'm primarily concerned with NYU, Columbia, mich, Chicago and berkeley, but if anyone else has any details on this I'd appreciate it. I just changed my address to my college one from my home address, and so I'm unsure How long it will take for them to get that updated information.

Berkeley doesn't give out waivers... I'm fairly certain that UCLA is the only UC school that does (Irvine is free to apply). If Michigan didn't send you one, just email them and ask... they seem to be quite quick on the reply.

Got unsolicited CRS waivers from all of those. Minus Berkeley, obviously. Columbia and Chicago sent notification via emails, which I got last week; my fee was automatically waived through LSAC. Michigan and NYU sent notification via snail mail. I just got those letters today but I actually had already found their waivers online - the fees were waived on LSAC a week ago. (I had assumed they were hidden waivers.)

Thanks for the info when win. Im gonna give NYU / mich until. The end of this week or Thursday, and if they aren't in I'll probably have to grovel to the rents to spot me for the fees, both of them seem to be getting decisions out early as all hell this year. Thankfully chi and Columbia can wait another week or so, and berkeley may just have to wait being my fifth choice.

I got one from Charlotte today that mentions my specific GPA and LSAT score and as far as I can tell GUARANTEES a scholarship. Desperation.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
