Where to apply?

where should I apply to maximize scholarship money? I honestly didn't expect my score to jump as much as it did and now I'm completely reevaluating my list of schools. I plan on applying to HYS but even if I were accepted there, I would seriously consider a lower-ranked school if the money was right. (Edit: part of my reasoning here is the fact that I'm not terribly interested in biglaw.) I have a long list of schools I'm thinking about but it would be a lot easier to help narrow them down if I knew what kind of scholarships I could conceivably expect. For the record, I'm very interested in NYU, Columbia, Vandy, UVA, Duke, Berkeley (I'd be very interested in living in NY or the south, *possibly* CA), but I'd welcome any opinions anyone has about other schools as well.

out of curiosity, what was your first score? You could possible snag a full ride from one of CC. You could throw Mich in there too.

178 is my only score. Sorry, I meant "jump" as in the jump from my cold diagnostic to my real score.
Possible full ride from Columbia, you say? Pinch me.

I'd say apply to all of the T10 you'd be interested in going to. Should get a full-ride from one of them (Michigan?) as leverage.

Of the T10, I have no interest in attending Chicago, Michigan, or Penn. would it be a mistake not to apply anyway, for the purposes of leverage?

I would apply for leverage just in case (even though you probably won't need it the cost is minimal).

I call troll- if you're smart enough to get a 178/4.0 you're smart enough to figure out what schools to apply to.

I haven't been here long, but I have figured out it's not TLS without at least one prickly reply. Seeing as you were relatively tame, I suppose I should be thanking you for the compliment to my intelligence.

I have a friend with similar numbers who turned down Harvard at sticker for a full ride to Northwestern. I don't blame him at all, Chicago is a pretty awesome city, and he's been working there since graduation anyways. Saving a shitton of money > slight increase in prestige

Apply to every T10 and use the lower ones as leverage. You say you don't want HYS now but wait till after ASW.

Hey numbers twin. With those stats, and assuming you have a decent application, you can reasonably expect some combination of HSY or full rides at CCN. Darrow, Dillard, or Levy are in play too. Absent personal reasons, I wouldn't settle for less than that.
Craft your application well, and enjoy your cycle.

Just throwing this out here - depending on what you're interested in, it might be worth seriously reviewing these schools, their LRAP, and the opportunities they give you that are beyond biglaw.

Most of Yale is not too terribly interested in Biglaw.

+1. Consider leveraging scholarships at peer schools once admitted. This is definintely not abnormal and I would say it is even common to do this.
Also, it seems the more accurate question you may need to ask is where do you want to go, rather then where you should apply. Good luck!

HYSCCN (maybe MVP just to be safe), but with those numbers, I'd imagine you'd get a Rubenstein, Hamilton, and a huge Dean's scholarship from NYU...

If not a flame then I would imagine you'd get full scholly offers throughout the lower T14.. But I would recommend Y/ H/ S. I think the investment would be worth it.

A lot of the full ride scholarships aren't just numbers based but you would be a top candidate obviously.
