Have been wondering about this for a while; do admissions people weigh ugpa's from say Dartmouth and Rutgers differently?

Most people here say no.

I transfered and do not even have the first school on my resume. All the matters is the degree granting school.

Im a transfer from a CC as well...my degree is from a UC (CA). The majority of people I've talked to say that as long as it's not like Phoenix online or something you should be good to go if you have a solid GPA and LSAT...at the end of the day it's a numbers game, not a school name game. Though I think it matters more in the upper echelons, HYS? (Totally unsubstantiated though)

Anecdotally from this board and LSN I think it matters for certain things, but only for top undergrads. If you are top 5% of the class at HYP, it will impress an adcomm probably even if you are slightly below median LSAT (see non URMS with LSATs in the 160s who get HYS). It can also matter for big name scholarships like Darrow, Hamilton, and Rubenstein.

Yes, but the boost given to students from top undergradute schools (i.e., the Ivies and a few other top privates) is not very significant. What matters more is whether you're applying to your alma mater's law school -- in many cases, doing so can help quite a bit.

102 of my credits were from a community college, 39 from decent but not fancy four-year university. i got my foot in the door at lower T14 (with 3.6/171). that said i got mostly waitlisted in T14, but largely due to applying in late january/early february. i think it's true that it doesn't matter but all the cc credits on my transcript may have been frowned upon, idk. did get decent $$ at lower T14 though. you could go to a very shitty school and still do fine if your GPA is ok.
