This might be a stupid question, but now I'm mildly concerned. During my second semester of my freshman year (spring semester 09), I withdrew from two classes (one was a bio lecture, the other was the corequisite lab); to add to that, during the spring semester of the next year (spring semester 10), I withdrew from one more class (due to extended illness). I would consider the Spring 09 withdraws as one single withdraw, because I had to withdraw from both, not just one or the other, and the third withdraw was from a different college (Spring 10 was my first semester at the college I had transferred to). I have a 3.7 QPA, and I've never gotten a grade below a B...so, to finally get to the point, here's my question: should I be worried about whether or not the withdraws will affect my applications? Should I write an addendum essay to explain the multiple withdraws (especially since the first two HAD to go together)?

You ask an interesting question. Without knowing too much about why you decided to withdraw, the addendum is the place to address these issues. Did you withdraw because of financial responsibilities,illness in the family or learning disabilities? This is the place to address these issues, directly and concisely. Hope this helps.

*edit* Also, this might have been traumatizing for OP given he/she is at 3 posts, and we should probably answer the question. I personally wouldn't since your GPA is high as it is, and I think you'd just be drawing attention to it. Addenda should be used sparingly, like exclamation marks. If you withdrew from the entire semester I'd say yes, but on this one I vote no. I had four W's scattered on my transcript, and it was a non-issue.

I don't think this calls for an addendum. As the poster above said, a few here and there don't really matter but if you'd dropped an entire semester you'd have to say something. Just be glad your overall GPA is solid and play up your strengths. Don't worry about it too much.
