LSAC Rounding for your Transcript

Post by justnicholas » Tue Jun 14, 2011 6:35 am

I attend the University of Washington, Seattle and they don't give letter grades. You can receive any grade with a .1 change. For example, you can get a 4.0, 3.9, 3.8..... and so on. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with how LSAC will round these grades.

I have a couple 3.9's and 3.2's on my transcript and could imagine getting some other odd numbers and I was just wondering if they round to the nearest letter grade, round up vs. down, and do they round to 3.5 as on the scale posted on their website.

Any knowledge would be helpful. Thanks.

Hey there fellow UWer.

Here's UW's GPA to letter grade scale:
http://www.washington.edu/students/genc ... g_Sys.html

Here's LSAC's letter grade to GPA scale:
http://www.lsac.org/JD/Help/faqs-cas.asp#gpa-different

You're going to have to calculate all of your UW classes in terms of letter grades based on the UW scale.

Then you will have to calculate your LSAC GPA by converting the letter grades to GPA based on the LSAC scale
or use http://www.lawpad.com/gpa_calculator/

As an example, a 3.8 (A- by UW scale) received at UW is equal to a 3.67 (A- by LSAC scale) GPA calculated by LSAC.
More specific to your case, a 3.9 received at UW is equal to a 4.0 according to LSAC.
