Paid vs. Unpaid Volunteer Work
This might be a silly question, but does anyone know if it makes any difference whether or not volunteer work is paid? I applied for a part-time (~5/wk) volunteer position which, unknown to me at the time, offers (not insubstantial) hourly recompense. Would admissions distinguish between working the position as a unpaid volunteer vs. as a paid volunteer?

I think you should look up the definition of "volunteer work"

Re: Paid vs. Unpaid Volunteer Work
I don't think admissions would know (or care) either way. I've worked at the same organization for three years and was unpaid two years then paid the third year. It still looks exactly the same on my resume. What matters is what you do and if it's interesting.
