Low Ranked School with High Ranked Specialty Forum

I'm curious as to what is the benfit there. How is it beneficial for someone who for example knows they are interested in trial advocacy to go somewhere like Stetson or South Texas when they are high ranked in that area but low ranked overall. What would the pro vs con be??

Pros: None.

Cons: The school sucks.

specialty rankings for law schools are the equivalent of participation medals at elementary school track meets. They give them out so the sucky kids feel .... less... sucky.

The top two for environmental law (Vermont Law & Lewis & Clark) are well deserved.

Rankings re: tax law are well respected for the top 3 (NYU, Florida & Georgetown).

Clinical training rankings show available opportunities & funding at those law schools.

Stetson is well respected for Trial Advocacy (wait until you visit higher ranked law schools with atrocious moot court programs teaching inappropriate courtroom techniques before judging). Baylor's program is intense.


OP: Go to the best/highest ranked law school among the top 17 to which you are admitted. Beyond that, law schools are regional. If your stats are low to moderate & you want to be a trial lawyer, Stetson & Baylor are great if you want to live & work in the Tampa Bay area or in Texas.
