Is applying on day 1 potentially a negative?

We all know applying early is key. But I can't help but think that applying as soon as applications are open would almost look desperate. Am I being paranoid? Or perhaps maybe applying on day 1 sends a message of 'I think i'm under-qualified so i'm trying to increase my chances by being super early'?
I was going to apply last cycle, but changed my mind, so I'm ready to go on day 1. recs, transcript, statements, etc are all good to go, so to me I just want to get them out as soon as possible. I just don't want to be that guy...
I feel like waiting a few weeks in sends a more relaxed message. But maybe i'm just over analyzing this. Thoughts?

Like everything, being fashionably late is appropriate. Applying before Oct 1, is New moneyish.

I applied on Day 1 or very close to it to almost all the schools I applied to. It certainly didn't hurt me and might have helped me a little.

You're not even in law school yet. You shouldn't be stressing like this (not that you should when you're in school, either). Schools are not looking for "relaxed" candidates, as if that is some special group that the school really wants to stock up on.
Get your apps in early. Get them out of the way. Go live your life for awhile. Then figure out your decision once the acceptances start rolling in.

There's a growing camp that says "day 1" is too late. You need to focus and get the app in by "hour 1". Anything after noon is auto-reject.

Even if you send everything day 1, nothing will be read for another few days (in some cases weeks). This will have absolutely NO impact on the perception of the adcomms. Send it day 1 or send it day 5, either is about the same. But if your package is ready to go, why not send everything in the first week?
