On here it says 3.24, but on the US news rankings for TLS it says 3.55. Which one is it?

It's not 3.24 so sorry if it gave you false hope.

Also says here that the median AND the 75th percentile is 168 for the LSAT. Is that a typo or is that possible? Haven't taken stats in awhile
This also contradicts the TLS report of the US news rankings, which says 169

Lulz, apparently I think OP is confusing median with mean. Gosh I miss elementary school mathematics.

I mean, even if OP is confusing mean and median, it's still possible for the 75% to be the same. Does that answer the question, OP?
And I wish the 25th were 3.24.
Edited for subjunctive tense.

Thanks, that's what I was asking. And I wasn't confusing mean and median, just asking a question.
Still wondering if its a typo because it contradicts Cornells website

I don't think your question was that ridiculous re: median (50%tile) v. 75%tile (whether it could actually be the same score). It seems counterintutive to me as well (I'm assuming it seemed counterintutive to you). Usually the median is in fact a lower number than the 75th.
My understanding is that the total of scores (or GPAs) for admits are lined-up ordinally (in order), then the 50th%tile is 1/2 up the line, and the 75th is 3/4 up the line. So if there is a tight score curve (with most of the scores falling in a narrow range), it is conceivable that you could have many, many scores on the ordered line (so speak) that would be the same, and that the 50th cross-section and 75th cross-section would be the same number.
(For example, if you had 165, 165, 165, 166, 166, 166, 166, [*] 166, 166, 166, 166, 166, [*] 166, 166, 167, 167 the 50th%tile would be the average of the two 166s the first asterik is placed between, and the 75th%tile would be the average of the two 166s the second asterik is place between: both 166).
In any case, I think at least understanding the ordinal principle underlying medians may be important to grasping how the percentile cut-offs work (and focusing on mean v. median can help illustrate some of the underlying principles).

In terms of the 3.24 v. the higher number, I suspect that if you saw it mentioned in a TLS article (the 3.24) it is old news. Whatever is mentioned in updated US News rankings is probably the accurate cut-off.

Regardless except for schools with floors, there's no diff between being in the 25th or 10th percentile in terms of GPA. It's all where you stand relative to the median(s). In my experience, being in the 75th LSAT or being way above the 75th makes little difference.

You didnt answer the question
In laymans terms:
Mean= Average. All the LSAT scores added up and divided by the number of people in the class
Median = the number at the 50%ile. i.e. if you lined up the entire 1L class's LSAT Score lower to highest, the median is the score right in the middle.
What having both a median and 75% score of 168 means is that at least the 50th%-75th% of the 1L class (ranked by LSAT) scored a 168.
Hope you're not trying to be an IP lawyer...

It really astounds me to find people here who can't or are too lazy to use the internet to search on their own. Must we really be teaching basic mathematical concepts here on TLS?

Except nobody was confused about mean vs median, so your masterful display of 4th grade knowledge was for naught.

OP: They are not typos, I think the data are just old. Back in 2008 I think the data were accurate.

No, you don't
have to. There is no must.
But if someone asks a question and someone else is kind enough to answer, that's okay too. If you don't like a thread, you can always skip to the next one.
