question about deferring berkeley

does anyone know if deferring attending for a year is binding at berkeley?

They're not going to force you to pay $200k and attend their school at the end of the year, if that's what you mean.

I don't think it is anywhere, but many schools require a seat deposit

If you mean deferring and then deciding not to attend law school at all, then this should not be a problem.

If you mean deferring and trying to apply elsewhere and then accepting that offer instead, then this is not good. If you don't want to attend the school, or think you may want to reapply and attend elsewhere, then withdraw and give up your seat and let someone in off the waitlist who really wants it.

If OP deferred, the seat would still become available this cycle
